SEXED UP?

Model Naomi Lenoir, actress Cathy Tyson and Virginia Mccollem are all pretty women with something in common. Apart from their good looks. Yes, they are all mixed race. But more importantly, their claim to fame has been their ‘sexually desirable portrayal’. Is it a mere coincidence, or is there something more going on here?
While Naomi Lenoir is the face of Marks & Spencer Lingerie, Cathy Tyson’s claim to fame was her role as a prostitute in the ITv series Band of Gold. As for Virginia, her most famous role was that of the whore at the water front in Interview with a vampire.
A recent study by Dr. Michael Lewis at Cardiff’s school of Psychology has found out that mixed race people are considered more attractive due to their distinct features. Mixed race models are a rage on international ramps as well. Are mixed race women better looking or is it just a changing trend in the glamour industries?
Managing partner, Sapphires Model Management, Ian Warren said: “Mixed race people have a more unique look which benefits them and makes them stand out. Trends in the modelling industry are constantly changing, and models need to reflect society. We live in a multicultural society and I think that there will only ever be a need for more mixed race models, rather than less.”
Mixed race model, Tiara Blyth said: “When people look at me, they say I am different. They cannot identify me as a person from a particular area. A mixed race face is more global in way and that helps advertisers and designers to reach out to a larger audience I feel.”
Author of ‘Mixed up kids?’, Tina Patel speaks about over-sexualisation of mixed women.
"Mixed race women are like the forbidden fruit."
